John's hero for many years has been "The Terminator" (Arnold Schwarzenegger). In fact, his very first drawing at the Metropolitan Learning Center in Portland was of Arnold. Over the years, his friends tried to contact Arnold on his behalf to no avail. Finally, they were able to get John's story to Arnold, now Governor of California, through a staff member. The Governor was kind enough to respond with a signed photo.
John then decided to send him the original of the drawing of The Terminator as a gift, along with this photo of John showing his various awards, including his Eagle Scout badge and sash, and medals he won at the Special Olympics. Again, the Governor was so moved that he sent John a personal letter thanking him. Needless to say, John was thrilled, and he would like to thank the Governor for his thoughtfulness.
